What does the blue band with OP on it signify?

I noticed on a reply I just made that my user box had a blue link with, I think, OP written in it.

What is the meaning of this please?

Hello Podali,

The OP refers to the person who started the thread and is short for Original Poster.

It is particularly handy for longer, multi-page threads that are detailed or technical in nature as it allows everyone to see who originally posed the question or started the discussion, so they can point their advice in the right direction, and see when follow-up questions come in too.
