It's about time I got a new jacket and wondered what other members would recommend. It would mostly be used for walking in the Pennines, Lakes and Snowdonia. I'm not great in snow, so tend to avoid the winter months. What has anyone else got?

I’ve decided to splash out and get an Arcteryx one. Next call...the bank manager

I was going to say, flavour of the day is Arcteryx, good jackets it seems but full on the trend price wise.

Treated myself to a Paramo jacket last year

Really nice gear, great waterproofing and relatively warm.

As light as possible, pit zips and a good simple hood that does the biz in foul weather is all I look for in a good jacket.

I have an Patagonia Torrentshell which is cheap (£100ish) very tough (used it whilst climbing numerous rock chimneys), packs into a stuff sac around the size of a grapefruit and is very light in weight. All I ever really need in a mountain jacket.
