Moorland walks, North of England?

Can anyone recommend some moors walks up north? We live in Kendal and often do not want to walk in the Lakes due to visitors. Ideally circular walks with car parking at the start/finish. Distance up to around ten miles but we are open to any suggestions. I like open moorland and we both like industrial ruins and artefacts. Thanks in advance.

No replies, no problem! We've bought an OS2 map of the Yorkshire Dales and have already explored around Ingleton and Malham. Sadly the mist and rain closed in following a walk around Malham Tarn, part two of the adventure was to have been down to Malham Cove through the dry valley and Mrs P did not fancy a soaking. Telling her that that was what goretex is for did not improve the situation!

We went back to finish our walk from Malham Tarn to Malham Cove, down the wonderful and spectacular dry valley. It was a great walk in near perfect conditions, I don't like it when it's warm! Mrs P was happy though. Need better socks!!
