How long have you been walking as a pastime?

I've only recently started walking and, if I'm honest, I haven't really gone out of my way to do lots of walks as it's more of a casual and social thing for me, but I wondered how long you have all been walking as a hobby? Years, decades, forever? ^_^

Yes, decades here....my first serious walking holiday was with my brother-in-law in 1977 when we spent a week in Snowdonia culminating in doing the Snowdon horseshoe.

I stopped smoking in 2001 and it was shortly after that I started to explore the hillier and more interesting parts of Britain.

It's a bit more serious than the word 'pastime' suggests. A lot of local exploration, and occasional forays further afield. Can't remember when I started.

    45 years: 16-61.

Flown by to darn quick and wish I'd done even more (sounds like parent alert).
