I've been planning my Pennine Way walk for early summer and found that several of the B&Bs where I used to stay have closed down. It's sad because the owners felt like friends - I've stayed with them five times before. It's also sad because it makes the walk harder - get to the end of the day and then call a cab to get to the nearest large town and stay in a hotel/pub.

Among the disappearing B&Bs are ones at Standedge, Cowling, Baldersdale, Greenhead. Has anyone noticed this trend?

That is a real shame, B&Bs are delightful gems, shame some are dsappearing.
