I have a rough idea of what Geocaching is but could someone explain in more detail please?

What is a virtual cache? I would have assumed they were all physical (and that's sort of the point of looking for them), but perhaps not? (I'll admit I only have a very basic understanding of what geocaching is )

Walking shoes or walking boots for spring and summer months (next year)?

Morning everyone. Thinking about some longer walking weekends in spring and summer next year and I wanted to ask whether it is best to wear walking shoes or walking boots in the warmer months, or whether it doesn't matter, so long as they are good quality? Are boots more specific to certain...

Can you recommend an easy to put up two person tent and sleeping bags

I'll be looking on ebay over the winter months so will keep your Gamma 200 suggestion in mind Andy, thanks. Thanks for the other suggestions too.

Do you think campsites would have a problem with you sleeping in your car?

Maybe sleeping in the car isn't such a good idea. Thanks for the advice, and yes, I will have a look on ebay and see if there are any cheap tents. I don't really like the idea of a second-hand sleeping bag though, so will look for a couple of cheap ones in the sales. Thank you, very helpful...

Aching feet on long walks - does it get better the more walks you do?

The last time we did a longish walk (20 miles I think it was) there was a chap whose feet started to ache at about 11 or 12 miles in. They gave him problems all the way to the end, but he made it. He said he didn't walk very often so we put it down to lack of experience and general...

Lake District - a wet day's walk from Elterwater

A good walk then, but not overly long. You take some good photos BTW, I saw the ones in the other thread. Would love to hear about more of your walks.

Fell walking - is it just another word for mountain walking?

Alpine meadow walking sounds lovely. Are you from America?

What is the furthest away place from your home that you've been on a walk?

Wow. Some of you have travelled really far. For me it's not very far at all, about 20 miles or so, but plan to go to some new places in the UK in 2018.

    Leisure tents

If you don't mind me asking, what is a leisure tent?

Lake District - a wet day's walk from Elterwater

Shame it was so grey and wet, but some great photos and it looks like it was a good walk. How many miles did you do altogether? And did you manage to get back to the tea room before closing?

Can you recommend an easy to put up two person tent and sleeping bags

As per my other thread I plan to go a bit further afield next year and have a few weekends away to walk in different parts of the country. I had originally thought we could sleep in our car, but the advice on the forum seems to be to get a tent as it should give us a better night's sleep, so...

Do you think campsites would have a problem with you sleeping in your car?

Thanks. My main concern was the expense - for what will probably only be a few nights away - and arriving late in the evening, after dark, and having to put up a tent without much light. I'll ask about a tent and sleeping bag in the other section.
